So the AI art company just did something nobody saw coming. They announced Midjourney Medical, and it has nothing to do with generating images. They’re building a physical machine that scans your entire body in 60 seconds using ultrasound.

Check it out for yourself (watch the videos!) https://www.midjourney.com/medical/blogpost

You step into a shallow pool of warm water and slowly descend on a platform. As you go down, you pass through a ring of about half a million tiny transducer elements, each one the size of a grain of sand. They fire ultrasonic waves through your body from every angle, acting like a massive array of tiny speakers and microphones at the same time. The data output is insane. Terabytes per second. Thousands of computers crunch it all in real time and reconstruct a 3D map of your body at sub-millimeter resolution. They say the quality is comparable to MRI but at roughly 100x the speed. No radiation. No contrast dye. Just sound and water.

But here’s the part that really got me. They’re not putting these in hospitals. They’re building a spa.

The first Midjourney Spa opens in San Francisco in 2027. Hot tubs, saunas, cold plunges, and these scanning pools with golden light. The idea is you go there because it’s a nice place to hang out, and the body scan just happens while you’re relaxing. You barely think about it. But over time you build up this massive dataset of your own body, and you start noticing changes, talking to your doctor, making better decisions.

Midjourney claims that widespread early imaging could eventually prevent 30% of all deaths and cut 50% of healthcare costs.

Whether they can actually pull this off is a whole other question. But the vision is wild. I love it!
